Adults with Special Needs

Eric is a retired lawyer in his early sixties. He recently had surgery which left him legally blind and walks with the assistance of a cane. Eric is divorced and lives alone in an apartment. His parents, who are in their 80's live in a neighboring town. Eric also still owns the $750,000 house that he shared with his wife and it has been on the market for 6 months. Eric wanted to remain in control and had admitted himself a number of times into long term care facilities, but was uncomfortable at each one because he was the youngest there and didn't feel his limitations warranted a facility. 

Between all the time spent on moving from one place to the other, staying in an extended stay hotel and then finding an apartment, the stress was accumulating. Months of time had passed and the expenses were only increasing. Between maintaining an empty house that was on the market, keeping up with the bills, submitting documents to Medicare, etc. all while being legally blind, the challenges became too much.
